once there was a little dog

they simply called her 'girl,'

she was a very special dog,

the cutest in the world.

 

there was a little boy named nic

who loved this 'girl' so much

he fed her, stroked her, made her glad

by his loving touch

 

but forces beyond his control

when asked if girl might share his home

ripped the poor boy's heart to shreds

when they coolly answered, "no."
